Aram Graduates

21 July - 23 August 2014

The Aram Gallery continued its Golden Anniversary celebrations with a new exhibition Aram Graduates 2014 in London’s Covent Garden.

Aram Graduates 2014 took its cue from the Aram Designs Graduate Shows which ran between 1988 & 1992. These shows were the first displays of work by designers such as Sebastian Bergne, Adam Brinkworth, Tom Lloyd, Konstantin Grcic, Thomas Heatherwick, Wakako Kishimoto and Luke Pearson amongst others.

Searching for experimental young designers, Director of The Aram Gallery Zeev Aram, would travel up and down the country, picking up the most innovative of designs from the latest crop of graduates. His selection, sometimes totalling over 70 designers from over 50 colleges and universities, was displayed in his Showroom in Covent Garden.

Of the shows he said ‘These graduate shows were a non-commercial exercise whose raison d’être was to provide support for young designers and to show their ideas at a crucial stage of their development.’

In summer 2014 the gallery revisited this significant moment in Aram’s history with a pick of the freshest graduates from 2014. The new show presented the work of 30 designers graduating from UK design schools, providing them with a platform to show their work to a broad industry audience.

Aram’s selection included designs from product, furniture, fashion, textiles, graphics…this year curator Héloïse Parke has picked an equally varied selection.
